Early Math101: your questions answered
Early Math101 kits are early years maths resources for home, designed by children's maths teacher and author Dr Paul Swan. Each kit has tactile pieces and activity cards, with a level for each age from 3 to 6.
What are the best early years maths resources for home?
Young children learn numeracy best with things they can hold, count and move. Each Early Math101 kit gathers these into one set with activity cards, so you have ready-made maths games without buying pieces separately.
Which Early Math101 kit is right for my child's age?
Ages 3 to 4: Early Maths 101 To Go - Number & Measurement - Level 1 or Early Maths 101 To Go - Geometry Problem Solving level 1.
Ages 4 to 5: Early Maths 101 To Go - Number & Measurement - Level 2 or Early Maths 101 To Go - Geometry Problem Solving level 2.
Ages 5 to 6: Early Maths 101 To Go - Geometry Problem Solving level 3.
What is the difference between Number & Measurement and Geometry Problem Solving?
Number & Measurement builds counting, measuring and early sums with cubes, counters and frames. Geometry Problem Solving builds shapes, patterns and logical thinking with pegs, pegboards and shape blocks.
What is in the Number & Measurement kits?
Level 1: 12 Junior Rainbow Pebbles®, 20 Linking Cubes, 24 Farm Animal Counters, 2 five frames, a bean bag, colour and number spinners, 25 activity cards and a colour activity booklet.
Level 2: 40 Linking Cubes, 28 dominoes, a 20-bead string, 2 ten frames, 20 two-colour counters, a six-sided and a ten-sided jumbo dice, 25 activity cards and a colour activity booklet.
What is in the Geometry Problem Solving kits?

Level 2: 60 pattern blocks, 200 small pegs, a pegboard, 36 lacing beads, 2 laces and 25 double-sided activity cards.
Level 3: 50 Junior GeoStix®, a geoboard with 20 elastic bands, 60 Attribute Blocks, an Attribute Block Spinner, 2 sorting circles and 25 double-sided activity cards.
How can I teach maths to my 3 year old at home?
Short, hands-on games work best. With Early Maths 101 To Go - Number & Measurement - Level 1, your child can count Farm Animal Counters onto five frames, build towers of Linking Cubes and play spinner games, all guided by the activity cards.
Do I need to be a teacher to use the kits?
No. The activity cards set out each game, and the Geometry Problem Solving Level 1 and Level 2 kits come in a storage case with a carry handle, so everything stays together for the next session.
